An e-signature is not necessarily a digital representation of your physical signature. While there are handwriting devices available that allow you to sign electronically the same way you sign pen on paper that method isn’t necessarily more secure or more defensible. What’s important in establishing your e-signature is the method in which it is established.

In short, the best way to “speak IT” is to make sure that your users will use the new solution. You can do this by watching how users work (vs. letting them try to simply explain or write it down), giving them prototypes and mockups they can try before building and by fully understanding the current and proposed process to perform work using the new solution. You can also bring in outside consultants who are specifically talented in delivering a solution you need. Plus you can hold outsiders more accountable than your own IT team.
